Webs of Causality 🕸️

Every action leaves a thread.

Every war begins with a decision.

Every empire is built upon a history someone would rather forget.

Every act of mercy has a consequence.

And sometimes, the most devastating choice is choosing to do nothing.

Webs of Causality is a multi-volume geopolitical epic, created by author, Brandon Thompson. It blends dark fantasy, hard science fiction, mystery, and tactical warfare into a world where power is never without consequence.

Welcome to Kepler.

The World of Kepler

Kepler is a world of immense nations, ancient bloodlines, supernatural abilities, political conspiracies, and a history of events long gone that continues to affect the present.

Ten Great Sovereigns dominate the planet, each possessing its own culture, ideology, economy, military, and interpretation of power.

Above them stands the World Council—a global institution created to maintain peace and prevent another catastrophe like the Convergence War.

But peace has a price.

Borders are protected by international law. Nations are bound by treaties. Military intervention is restricted. And the institutions responsible for protecting the world are not necessarily immune to corruption or infiltration.

On Kepler, maintaining the status quo can be just as dangerous as destroying it.

And when that status quo begins to collapse, the consequences do not remain contained within a single nation.

They spread.

A World Without Seasons

Kepler does not experience seasons in the way Earth does.

Its climate follows a Static-Cell model.

Summer, winter, spring, and autumn are not simply periods of the year.

They are places.

The planet is divided into permanent climatic regions, from the perpetual heat of Alsummer to the frozen reaches of Alwinter, the eternal spring of Alspring, and the crimson landscapes of Everfall.

At the center lies the All-Season Zone, where these planetary forces collide.

Yet Kepler still moves through an annual cycle.

As the planet travels through its orbit, these permanent climates are intensified by the Raging Seasons, creating periods of extreme environmental change.

Geography isn’t merely scenery on Kepler.

It shapes civilizations.

It shapes economies.

It shapes wars.

And it shapes the people who live there.

Psinecraft

Power on Kepler comes from Psine—a force capable of being manipulated through a system known as Psinecraft.

But Psinecraft is not simply a matter of who possesses the greatest power.

It is a system of conditions, limitations, efficiency, psychology, and understanding.

There are four fundamental classes:

Manipulators

Those who control what already exists.

Manifesters

Those who create matter and energy.

Modifiers

Those who alter existing states and properties.

Moderators

Those who impose laws, rules, and conditions upon reality itself.

A powerful ability can still be useless if its conditions are exploited.

A weaker ability can become lethal in the hands of someone who understands it better.

Every Psion has limitations.

Every limitation has a purpose.

And every rule has the possibility of a loophole.

In Psinecraft, knowing how to fight can matter more than knowing how to hit harder.

The Weight of History

The Convergence War remains one of the defining events of the modern era, leading to the creation of the World Council and fundamentally changing the relationship between the nations of Kepler.

But history is never experienced the same way by everyone.

Kings remember it differently than soldiers.
Victors remember it differently than the defeated.

And those who lived through it may remember things differently than those who came afterward.

Across Kepler, the past continues to influence the present—through political institutions, bloodlines, military doctrine, religion, technology, and the people who inherited its consequences.

To understand the world of today, one must understand the world that came before it.

And some of the most important events in history have never been fully understood.

The further the story progresses, the more the characters discover that history is not a straight line.

It is a web.

Pull one thread—

and everything connected to it moves.

The Story

At the center of this web is Ramone Mari.

Born into a world already shaped by political power, inherited history, and expectations he never asked for, Ramone wants something remarkably simple:

to become a wanderer.

But Kepler has a way of making simple dreams impossible.

As political tensions rise and old powers begin to fracture, Ramone finds himself drawn into conflicts far larger than himself.

Royals.

Soldiers.

Calamities.

Explorers.

Mercenaries.

Psions.

And people who have spent their entire lives preparing for a future that may no longer exist.

Each has their own reason for fighting.

Each believes they are justified.

And every choice they make creates consequences for someone else.

What to Expect

⚔️ Tactical Combat

Battles where abilities have rules, weaknesses, conditions, and consequences. Victory isn’t guaranteed by having the strongest ability.

🌎 Geopolitical Conflict

Nations don’t simply fight with armies. They fight with economics, diplomacy, resources, borders, espionage, ideology, and information.

🕵️ Mystery & Lore

The deeper you travel into Kepler, the more you want to go even deeper.

🩸 Dark Fantasy

Bloodlines, empires, ancient powers, supernatural abilities, and the powerful willing to commit terrible acts in the name of exercising freedom.

🧠 Strategy Over Power

Understanding an opponent can be more valuable than overpowering them.

🕸️ Consequences

Characters don’t exist in isolated stories. Their decisions ripple across nations, generations, and eventually the entire world.

The Exodus Era

The old world has fractured.

The institutions that once maintained peace are being tested.

The borders that kept nations separated are becoming increasingly meaningless.

And a new generation is beginning to move across Kepler.

The Age of Wanderers has exploded.

Some will seek freedom.

Some will seek revenge.

Some will seek the truth.

Some will attempt to restore the world that existed before.

Others will decide that the old world deserves to die.

But none of them will escape the consequences of their choices.

Because every decision creates another.

Every consequence creates another.

Every thread connects to another thread.

And eventually, the entire web moves.

Some may look to history for answers.

Some may reject history altogether.

And some may choose to forget.

But there’s one simple truth that everyone would do well to remember:

Causality Guides Everything.
