Ramone Mari is a Baron of Atteria and the son of legendary Wanderer Giovanni Mari, and Continental Border Assault Regiment operative Romana Mari. He was born in Batumi, Atteria, west of Hajimebasho but East of the capital city of Capril.

He moved to Capril with his father, at the age of nine, following the death of his mother during the Calamity of Curia.

He, himself is a figure of great interest to the people. To know his skill and his potential is of great importance.

— Princess Kiara Ikari Amakusaye De Eiria

As Atteria and Eiria edges towards a fragile and highly contentious reunification, Ramone is a reluctant participant in the political games of the Congress of Aristocrats and the broader Ten Great Sovereigns.

Ramone is a Moderator-Class esper who uses an ability he calls CounterBalance.

With this ability, he can copy the abilities of other psions as long as he understands the basis of the ability, and makes physical contact on the user.

CounterBalance also has other laws, if a copied ability is lost in it’s original source, then Ramone can no longer use that ability.

Ramone has stated/implied that CounterBalance has other laws before but he hasn’t revealed them to anyone.

Magecraft Bowl & Lucky Coin: He carries a relic from his father, imbued with Atom Genesis, that is capable of duplicating the last item placed inside, alongside a worn silver coin from his late mother used to dictate his actions when conflicted.

Luck is just another kind of skill.
—Romana Mari to Ramone.

Fetterless Casting: Unlike most mages who rely on incantations and autosuggestions, Ramone utilizes his abilities without fetters. This allows for instantaneous, unpredictable combat maneuvers that catch traditional fighters off guard.

Early Ascension: Ramone was accepted into the prestigious Capril Academy at the age of ten, advancing far faster than his peers.

Instructor Status: By age thirteen, he had completely surpassed his instructors, earning a baronial title in Capril for academic and practical merits.

He transitioned into a tutoring role once he turned 15, actively training younger academy students.

Analytical Genius: His prodigiousness lies in his tactical perception. He can analyze complex abilities mid-battle, deducing the vector-redirection of Commander Benjamin Ramsey and the thermodynamics of Nicholas Lauzun’s ability, instantly copying and repurposing Nicholas’s flame manifestation in ways the young student had never even considered.

Prophesied Catalyst: Recognized by the Grand Jester as one of two “wunderkind” (alongside Kiara) whose actions are destined to ripple across Kepler.

I always have a plan. And if I don’t, I’ll flip it.
—Ramone Mari on his lucky coin.

The Wanderer’s Dream: Ramone despises the suffocating politics of Capril. His true desire is to become a Great Wanderer like his dad was—exploring forgotten ruins, navigating underground labyrinths, and discovering ancient mysteries.

He also witness how much his father changed after becoming a C-BAR soldier, even before the Calamity of Curia.

Revenge: Ramone has a deep-seated hatred for Tulburo for killing his mother and destroying his father’s life, and has a deep desire to get stronger so he can avenge his parents.

Giovanni Mari

Ramone deeply respects his father but mourns the adventurous explorer Giovanni used to be before C-Bar, before the trauma of Curia and before global politics consumed him.

King Masamune Amano

The beloved King of Atteria who served as a surrogate father figure and political mentor to Ramone, since he’s way less busier than Giovanni who serves as Vice President of the World Council and Prime Minister of Atteria.

He is a close friend of Ramone’s parents, Masamune recognized the young baron’s lack of selfish ambition coupled with his abundance of competence as the mark of a true leader.

The worst ruler is not the fool, nor the brute—but the one who is perfectly qualified, yet takes the crown for personal reasons. Out of Selfish Ambition. Resentment. The best ruler is just as qualified—perhaps more so—but carries no hunger for power. No thirst for control. Only the quiet hope to help, to mend what has been broken–even if it breaks him in turn.

—King Masamune Amano on Ramone.

Queen Emiko Amano (Née Aurelius)

Emiko harbors a deep disdain for Ramone and his father, viewing their meritocratic rise and popularity as a direct threat to the traditional aristocratic rule she meticulously manipulates.

Lord Julius Aurelius

Julius Aurelius is the Earl of Hajimebasho and one of Ramone’s rivals for the Atterian throne.

He is Ramone’s bitter enemy and ideological opposite. As the arrogant, ambitious heir to House Aurelius and the man promised to Akira, Julius embodies the oppressive, self-serving aristocracy that Ramone despises. Julius views Ramone as a nuisance beneath him and is baffled by how much love Ramone receives from the King and the people.

Princess Akira Amano

Older daughter of King Masamune and Queen Emiko. Akira is a fiercely close childhood friend with unspoken romantic tension.

Like her father, Akira also thinks Ramone is the best candidate for succession. At times, she acts more like his advisor than his friend, but she always warns him of his indecisiveness to commit to either the throne or becoming a wanderer.

Unlike her sister, Akira is somewhat patriotic and views the kingdom itself as the most important thing. Because of this, she has put herself in the crosshairs of multiple political negotiations and the schemes of the Congress of Aristocrats.

Princess Enju Amano

Younger daughter of King Masamune and Queen Emiko, and a soldier in the Continental Border Assault Regiment who actively avoids royal politics. She shares a deep, sibling-like bond with Ramone and acts as a fiercely protective figure.

Princess Kiara Ikari Amakusaye De Eiria

Kiara is somewhat of a fierce rival and a crucial ally. Their bond is uniquely grounded by her deep reverence for his father, Giovanni Mari, who served as her swordsmanship sensei.

They share a genuine, unspoken understanding of the suffocating weight of royal duty and a mutual yearning for freedom, but while Kiara has chosen duty, Ramone leans towards choosing desire but is paralyzed by the expectations and enmeshed in others who have seemingly chosen for themselves already.
