Raised in the middle of a fractured empire clinging to the past and trained by a legendary Wanderer, Princess Kiara is a warrior first and a royal second.
She is a prodigious talent who has been featured in multiple Rising Dawn editions of the Rumor Mill. She is also an exceptional swordswoman as well as a weapons-specialist who can use any weapon at an almost mastery level on first use.
As Eiria and Atteria edge towards a fragile and highly contentious reunification, Kiara navigates the treacherous political landscape not with diplomatic pleasantries, but with the unrelenting edge of her blade.
Prophesied Catalyst: Recognized by the Grand Jester as one of two “wunderkind” (alongside Ramone Mari) whose actions are destined to ripple across the world and alter the global balance of power.
“You’re already at the level of a C-BAR private”—Commander Benjamin Ramsey to Kiara
Kiara, armed with Ferrotropy and the legendary ancient relic Futsunomitama, stands ready to carve her own path through the storms gathering over Kepler.
Kiara is a Manipulator-Class Esper with a metal affinity who uses the ability she calls Ferrotropy.
With this ability, she can manipulate metal dust at such a refined level that she is able to control the density, compactness, sharpness, and form of metal with precision.
Her primary weapon is Futsunomitama, an ancient relic and National Treasure of Eiria bound to the Amakusaye bloodline.
Futsunomitama becomes sharper with every strike, making it an increasingly dangerous weapon the longer Kiara remains in battle.
Kiara was seven years old when she began receiving training in the art of the blade from Giovanni Mari, in 288 XE when he was a soldier in the Continental Border Assault Regiment.
Though most C-BAR soldiers are not permitted within the borders of sovereign nations, Emperor Yasu made an exception for Giovanni. He spent considerable time in Eiria, where he trained both Kiara and Ryunosuke Sakata.
However, Giovanni’s training of Kiara rarely consisted of conventional instruction. He did not spend most of his time dueling her, correcting her stance, or teaching her how to strike.
Instead, much of her training required Kiara to make arduous journeys from the Imperial Palace to the northern border herself. She was required to make these journeys without using Psinecraft and without resting.
This conditioning helped develop Kiara’s extraordinary physical endurance and combat ability.
“The honorable death you want me to pick is the one I choose for them.” —Kiara Ikari Amakusaye De Eiria
In 292 XE, right before she turned 12 years old, Kiara became the youngest ever official member of the elite Eirian guards known as the 7 Virtues of Bushido.
She represents the virtue of Meiyo (Honor).
To Kiara, the greatest honor is fulfillment of her duty and keeping the integrity within the systems she fights to protect, even as her fellow Virtues and various warlords of Eiria scheme in the shadows to tear the foundations down.
It is my duty. To honor tradition, to uphold the legacy of my ancestors. And… I believe I can make a difference. I can unite the fractured kingdom of Irie and bring peace to our people.—Kiara Ikari Amakusaye De Eiria
Kiara’s ultimate goal is to one day unify the fractured Kingdom of Irie.
The Kingdom of Irie was split into two independent kingdoms, Atteria and Eiria, after the Irie Civil War centuries ago.
Kiara believes she can reunite the two kingdoms and bring lasting peace to their people.
Emperor Yasu
As a rambunctious and almost childlike figure and a doting father, Emperor Yasu acts as the light in Kiara’s world.
Kiara views the scheming warlords and corrupt Virtues as a hindrance to Eiria’s reunification goal. She would want nothing more than to forcefully remove them because she has no desire to play political games.
However, she knows that doing so would not be honorable, and she does not want to disappoint her father, whom she knows to be a diplomatic leader.
Giovanni Mari served as Kiara’s mentor and trained her in the art of the blade beginning when she was seven years old. His training shaped Kiara into the exceptional swordswoman she would become.
Princess Akira Amano
A distant blood relative through the thinned lines of the Amano and Amakusaye families. Kiara playfully teases Akira about her obvious feelings for Ramone though she genuinely cares for her well-being.
Kiara sees Ramone as a rival and peer. She notes that they share a mutual understanding of the suffocating weight of expectations and understands his desire to escape but ultimate she chooses duty over desire.
She playfully challenges him, trusting him enough to suggest they bring back the old Irie tradition of Labyrinth camping when the world is at peace.
The Grand Jester
Kiara deeply distrusts the Jester, finding his prophecies and cryptic antics unsettling.
She differs from her father, since Emperor Yasu has shown complete trust and faith in the Grand Jester.
