Sotsui Akitsune is a fiercely analytical Eirian warlord and the smartest member of the elite 7 Virtues of Bushido.
His swordsmanship is not as refined as fellow Virtues such as Princess Kiara and Ryunosuke Sakata, nor does it rival that of Kepler’s other top-tier sword combatants.
Instead, Sotsui compensates through his powerful psinecraft abilities and extraordinary analytical skills. He views combat entirely as a series of solvable equations, making conventional physical advantages and fine-tuned swordsmanship largely irrelevant to his fighting style.
To Sotsui, a battle is not something to be felt. It is something to be calculated.
Sotsui is one of the Corrupted/Tainted Vessels, individuals whose interpretation of bushido has become distorted into something dangerous.
As a tainted vessel, Sotsui is known by the epithet The Weeping Butcher.
He is infamous for violently shredding his opponents to pieces before piously weeping over their corpses and praying that the gods have mercy upon them and bless their souls.
The contradiction between his brutal methods and sincere religious devotion is central to Sotsui’s interpretation of bushido. He does not necessarily view the violence itself as irreverent. To him, the prayer that follows is part of the same duty.
Status: The most pious of all the Warlords and Virtues of Eiria.
Sotsui acts as a Kinetic and Spatial Modifier. When executing a base action, he uses his Psine to multiply the output of that action without changing the amount of time required to execute it.
A single step can cover ten times the normal distance. A single punch or sword swing can carry the force of fifty simultaneous overlapping strikes.
The true difficulty of Sotsui’s ability, however, is not generating the additional force. It is surviving it.
To survive Newton’s Third Law, Sotsui must flawlessly execute Kinetic Division. In the exact millisecond a multiplied strike lands, he uses his Psine to mathematically divide the resulting recoil.
For example, he may reduce the resulting blowback to one-hundredth of its original force.
This requires an immense level of computational mental processing. Sotsui must simultaneously calculate the force he is producing, the force being transferred to his opponent, and the recoil being returned to his own body.
If his concentration slips even momentarily during an attack, the multiplied recoil can instantly tear his own body apart.
The Hundredfold Strike — Offense
A single fluid sword swing produces one hundred overlapping kinetic impacts.
The technique can shatter standard Psine shields because defensive barriers cannot properly calculate and block one hundred separate instantaneous impacts occurring within the same attack.
Geometric Stride — Mobility
By multiplying the distance covered by a step or jump, Sotsui can turn a standard two-foot hop into a two-hundred-foot vault.
When performed at high speed, the technique can give Sotsui the appearance of teleportation or flight across the battlefield.
Fractional Guard — Defense
Sotsui can reverse the principle behind his multiplication and divide incoming kinetic energy.
He can reduce a heavy Weapons-grade or Siege-grade strike by a factor of fifty upon contact, turning what would have been a bone-breaking blow into little more than a harmless shove.
Magnum Opus: Factorial (!)
Rather than applying a static multiplier, Sotsui pushes his Psine into a continuous, compounding geometric progression.
Every consecutive strike increases according to a mathematical factorial:
Strike 1 = 1× force
Strike 2 = 2× force
Strike 3 = 6× force
Strike 4 = 24× force
Strike 5 = 120× force
By the tenth or eleventh flawless consecutive strike, Sotsui’s kinetic output can reach catastrophic, city-block-leveling power.
The limitation is not his physical strength, but the computational burden placed upon his mind.
Sotsui must continuously calculate and divide the exponentially increasing recoil. If he cannot end the fight quickly, the cognitive overload can cause severe cranial hemorrhaging.
January 293 XE
One of the most significant events in Sotsui’s history was his clash with his fellow Virtue, Iris Nakaijima.
On January 26, 293 XE, Sotsui and Iris became involved in a devastating brawl in the city of Meiji, located within Eiria’s municipality of Zo.
The battle quickly escalated beyond the scale of a normal confrontation. Sotsui possessed Military-grade exponential kinetic output, while Iris utilize self-destructing platforms.
The resulting clash was catastrophic and ultimately caused an entire city block in Meiji to collapse.
The Fallout
The battle became the direct catalyst for Iris defecting from Eiria only four days later.
Her defection eventually led to her capture by Ryunosuke Sakata and her subsequent imprisonment in Warden’s Maw.
The Meiji Brawl demonstrated the destructive potential of Sotsui’s equation-based combat style when his restraint fails or when he is forced to push his Factorial (!) Magnum Opus against another top-tier threat.
Sotsui Akitsune is one of the elite Eirian guards known as the 7 Virtues of Bushido.
His status as a Virtue places him among the most powerful and politically significant warriors in Eiria. However, his interpretation of bushido has become increasingly distorted, leading to his classification as a Tainted Vessel.
Where others may view bushido as a code of honor, discipline, or duty, Sotsui has transformed its principles into a framework through which violence, calculation, and devotion can coexist.
